Ingredients For Kofta:

    • Minced meat (beef or lamb): 500g

    • Garam masala powder: 1 teaspoon
    • Salt: To taste
    • Oil: For frying
  • For Biryani:

    • Basmati rice: 2 cups, soaked for 30 minutes
    • Onion: 2, thinly sliced
    • Tomato: 2, chopped
    • Yogurt: ½ cup
    • Biryani masala: 2 tablespoons
    • Red chili powder: 1 teaspoon
    • Turmeric powder: ½ teaspoon
    • Salt: To taste
    • Oil/Ghee: 4 tablespoons
    • Water: 3 cups
    • Saffron strands: A pinch, soaked in warm milk

Kofta Preparation

  • In a bowl, mix minced meat, chopped onion, ginger-garlic paste, green chili, coriander leaves, garam masala powder, and salt.
  • Shape the mixture into small, round balls (koftas).
  • Heat oil in a pan and fry the koftas until golden brown. Set aside.

Biryani Preparation

  • In a separate pan, heat oil/ghee and fry the thinly sliced onions until golden brown. Remove and set aside for garnishing.
  • In the same pan, add chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn mushy.
  • Add biryani masala, red chili powder, turmeric powder, and salt. Cook until the oil separates.
  • Stir in yogurt and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
  • Layer the fried koftas over the masala.

Assembly

  • In a deep pot, layer half of the soaked rice.
  • Spread the kofta masala evenly over the rice layer.
  • Top it with the remaining rice.
  • Sprinkle the saffron-infused milk over the rice.
  • Garnish with fried onions.
